26.06.2025 - The Commissioner for Personal Data Protection issued Guideline No. 1/2025 on the use of personal mobile phones for work.
The Guideline aims to standardize use of personal phones for specific work tasks during working hours while protecting personal data and employee privacy.
Key points:
- No employee is required to use their personal mobile phone for work.
- Personal phone use for work is allowed only when: (a) the employee consents; (b) it genuinely facilitates their duties; and (c) the employer does not process personal data as part of that use.
If an employee declines, the employer must (a) provide an alternative and (b) ensure the employee suffers no adverse consequences for choosing it.
